Custom Printing Solutions
Bespoke print, crafted to impress. Bespoke, gift-grade production — coffee-table books, premium boxes and customised merchandise crafted to your brief.
What is Custom Printing Solutions?
Custom printing solutions turn ideas into tangible keepsakes: personalised calendars, diaries, coffee-table books, greeting cards, wedding invitations, branded merchandise and premium gift boxes. Each project blends design, material selection and craft finishing to produce pieces that feel considered, personal and worthy of the moment they mark.
Unlike standardised runs, bespoke work is built around your brief. Choose papers, finishes, binding and construction to match brand or occasion, then layer variable data and personalisation for one-to-one relevance. The result is gift-grade print that elevates presentation, strengthens relationships and leaves a lasting tactile impression.
Every binding, and when to use it
The seven binding methods that cover bespoke work — from a slim greeting card to a 400-page coffee-table book. Choice drives lifespan, page-count ceiling and lay-flat behaviour.
Saddle stitch
Wire-stapled through the spine fold; up to ~40 pages, the most economical option.
Perfect bound
Signatures glued to a wrapped cover, giving a square spine — suits 40–200 pages.
Section-sewn (Smyth)
Thread-sewn signatures for long-life books; opens flatter than perfect bound.
Case bound (hardback)
Sewn or glued textblock in a rigid case — coffee-table books, yearbooks and gifting editions.
Wire-O
Twin-loop wire through punched holes; lays flat, ideal for calendars, planners and reference guides.
Swiss / lay-flat
Textblock glued only to the back cover so pages open fully flat — the go-to for panoramic photo spreads.
Page-count guidance
Saddle up to 40 pp · perfect 40–200 pp · section-sewn 200–800 pp · case bound at any count.
The honest FSC picture
FSC chain of custody is a path, not a sticker. For a printed piece to carry the FSC mark, every link — forest → mill → merchant → printer — must itself be FSC-certified. Claim only what the chain actually supports.
Custom work often ends up on premium and gifted stock, which is exactly where sustainability claims get scrutinised. The three FSC grades set the ceiling on what any single piece can legally advertise; ink and coating choices set the floor on how recyclable the finished object is.
FSC 100%
All fibre from FSC-certified forests, fully traceable back to origin.
FSC Mix
Blend of FSC-certified virgin, controlled and recycled fibre — the most common commercial grade.
FSC Recycled
100% post-consumer recycled fibre inputs.
Soy inks
Vegetable-based inks with strong colour vibrancy, rub-resistance and de-inking behaviour that supports recyclability.
Uncoated cover
Skipping laminate keeps the piece single-stream recyclable at end of life.
Cost drivers on a bespoke run
Five levers that dominate quotes on gift-grade and short-run bespoke work.
Run length
Short runs (50–500) carry a per-unit premium; volumes above 1,000 unlock offset economics.
Binding method
Section-sewn and Swiss binding cost more per book than perfect binding but justify it on lifespan.
Finishing stack
Every extra pass — foil, emboss, spot-UV, edge paint — adds set-up time and slows the run.
Substrate
Cotton and specialty stocks cost 2–4× standard art paper; rigid magnetic gift-box board is a larger jump again.
Assembly & personalisation
Hand-tied ribbons, tipped-in cards and variable-data personalisation are labour lines, not machine lines.
