Overview

What is Packaging & Labels?

Packaging and labels are where your brand meets the shopper's hand. From rigid product boxes and folding cartons to product, barcode and shipping labels, each piece must protect the contents, carry accurate information and earn a second look on a crowded shelf or doorstep. Good structure and print turn a container into a silent salesperson.

Beyond looks, packaging is a working system: substrates and coatings guard against moisture and scuffing, scannable barcodes keep logistics moving, and tamper-evident sleeves build trust. Whether you need a short run of custom stickers or thousands of retail-ready cartons, the right board, finish and process protect both the product and the purchase experience.

Choose the right flute

Corrugated is specified as liner/flute/liner (e.g. 125K/B/125T). The flute profile drives strength, cushioning and the printable face — pick to match what the box has to survive.

Standards & compliance

Barcodes and label rules

Two hard standards packaging artwork has to design to from the first draft — get either wrong and the pack fails at retail or is seized on the shelf.

GS1

Barcode dimensions & quiet zones

Nominal X-dimension 0.33 mm; GS1-128 never below 0.250 mm. EAN-13 minimum 31.35 × 22.86 mm; EAN-8 16.83 × 22.86 mm. Quiet zone at least 7× the X-dimension (UPC-A 9× left/right; EAN 5× the thinnest bar). Retail-POS QR X-dimension 0.396–0.990 mm with a 4-module quiet zone.
